Change an LPG Cylinder
There are different types of sources that could power forklifts. They can run using LP gas or liquid propane, gasoline, diesel or battery. LP is a clean burning fuel preferred for many uses. There are some facilities which have large liquid propane supplies on site. This enables forklifts to be refueled anytime they require. In other places, the facility will have spare LP cylinders that can be changed out when the machinery should be refueled.
So as to avoid potentially serious injury, specific precautions should be taken when changing out an LP cylinder. Like for instance: be certain to put on the correct safety equipment such as goggles or safety glasses and heavy gloves. Make sure that you turned off the ignition of the forklift prior to changing out the tank. Then, close the cylinder valve by turning it until it is closed securely. Use your hand to loosen the hose connection to the tank. Remember that it will turn in the opposite direction of a normal connection and never use a metal tool or any kind of wrench on these connections. They are meant to be tightened just by utilizing the hand.
