Caterpillar Pneumatic Tire Forklifts Vermont

Use a Pneumatic Forklift
Pneumatic forklifts are common in shipping and warehouse operations. Also called pallet trucks or pump trucks, they are utilized to move materials and things around on wooden pallets utilizing metal forks that are mounted on a wheeled counterweight. The counterweight has a pump which raises the forks off the ground. A pallet truck is designed to be operated by a single individual.

To prevent loosing control while raising heavy loads, pallet trucks should always be operated with care. Machine must be checked before operating. Clear the wheels area of any obstacle. Check that the handle can smoothly turn. The pallet should be carefully stacked to ensure that nothing would fall off during transportation.

On the end of the pallet truck's handle, squeeze the level located on the inside of the metal loop to be able to release the air in the pump and lower the forks. The forks can then be pushed into the pallet slots. The forks should be centered in order to guarantee equal distribution of the pallet's weight across them. Lift the forks from the ground by pumping the handle of the pneumatic lift until the pallet has completely cleared the ground. Do not raise the pallet too high or the forklift could unbalance.

Pull on the handle and drag it behind you if you want to move the pallet. It is truly not safe to push the pallet ahead of you since the momentum could cause it to go out of control. Slowly take turns and don't try to stop abruptly. Stop gradually, squeeze the lever, and the forks would lower to the ground. Lastly, remove the forks from the pallet by pulling them out. Return the pallet truck to its permanent location.
