Forklift Truck Training
You must be trained on an industrial-powered lift truck or a forklift before becoming a qualified operator. This training is usually modified to the machinery, any machine attachment to be utilized by the operator and individual facility. It is very important to have safety as a priority for the trainee or the trainer.

General Qualifications
For those who want to operate a forklift, they have to be at least 18 years old and have the physical capability to safely operate and control the kind of machinery they are training for. Prior to assuming any operator duties, all operators should be certified correctly.

Pedestrian Safety
One of the most common types of forklift related injuries occurs when a pedestrian is struck by the machinery. Operators of forklifts need to always yield to pedestrians and use their horns when nearing any intersection, crosswalk or pedestrian area.

Weather Conditions
Amongst the most dangerous places to operate a forklift are loading docks. When rain filters in through dock doors that are open, the floor can become extremely dangerous and slippery. It is vital for operators of forklifts to consider these situations when operating within these types of settings.

Certification
Both classroom instructions and hands-on exercises should be completed in order to become a certified forklift operator. This kind of training can be adjusted to be able to suit the requirements of each type of workplace; for example, incorporating the various attachments that will be used on that jobsite and each specific kind of machinery.

Accidents
On an annual basis, about 100 people are killed due to accidents related to utilizing forklifts. Furthermore, there are around 100,000 who are injured. With safe operation of the equipment and correct forklift training, most of these injuries can be prevented all together.
