Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescoping booms lifts are designed to mount a work bucket on an extendable, straight arm which is situated on a rotating turntable. Usually, telescoping boom lifts are used for tasks which need reaching at maximum height, exceeding other types of lifts. Like for instance, workers can carry out exterior repairs or renovations on buildings of medium height but utilizing these lifts rather than having the extra work of setting up an outside elevator or a pulley system.

The boom lift is only designed to hold a single individual. These buckets are more suitable to particular jobs such as electrical repair, as opposed to general maintenance or window washing. These lifts are offered with both outdoor and indoor tires and are available in electric and gas configurations.

Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are named for the cross-braces under the work platform. These braces squeeze together in order to push the platform straight up. Since these kinds of machinery should be directly positioned under the work location, compared to boom lifts, these units are way more limited in their use.

Scissor lifts do, on the other hand, provide larger platforms that allow the operator controlling the lift to access a bigger work surface once the lift is raised. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of a problem with these kinds of equipment, as they have to sit on flat ground in order to be utilized. Scissor lifts are ideal for being utilized for window installation or cladding, as they provide the workers with the desired mobility; they are also a great alternative for exterior repairs or window cleaning applications.

Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
The boom truck or cherry picker refers to the utility vehicle often used to lift employees for different tasks performed at heights. Generally, these types of trucks have a cab. It is here where the driver sits and operates the machine. There is a bucket for where the employee can stand along with an actuator arm for lifting the boom and a winch for carrying.

Boom trucks take personnel to heights which would normally be inaccessible. The function of cranes is to lift heavy supplies or equipment from one place to another. There are a variety of different crane types which could perform various purposes. Both of these different types of machinery excel at different tasks and are suitable for specific applications and completing particular tasks.
