Reach Truck
In order to keep storage places tidy and to pile up supplies and pallets of goods, a reach truck could be used. The reach truck comes in quite a few types: the straddle reach, stand-up reach and the double-deep reach.
The stand-up is the simplest. The forks of the truck slide beneath the pallet and move it to the correct storage place. The forks slide the pallet into place. This kind of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are only one pallet deep.
The double-deep reach truck is like the stand-up, but is ideal for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods. This particular model has telescopic forks designed to put the pallet at the back of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when another pallet needs to go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the additional advantage of being able to not just slide underneath the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units can be accessed in multiple directions. This version is best in conditions where goods will not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
In most warehouses, there are normally more than one type of reach truck. Manufacturing facilities and textile companies use different kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to use and can maximize available storage space while increasing production.
