Boomlift / Manlift Vermont

Used Boom Lift Vermont - One of the commonest types of industrial equipment and aerial equipment is the boom lift. Boom lifts go by numerous names including cherry pickers, elevating work platforms, aerial platforms, aerial devices and mobile elevating work platforms; created to conduct jobs at higher elevations. Many industries rely on boom lifts every day including retail locations, construction contractors, companies and warehouses. Staying safe while working at high altitude is essential for daily success. The material handling industry offers many boom lift models. A single operator can control a variety of boom lift models. This machine is popular for harvesting fruit in locations such as orchards that historically relied on climbing dangerous ladders. Since ladders require even, solid ground for setting them up safely, they can be unreliable in the agricultural industry. Harvesting fruit is much safer and simpler with a boom lift compared to using a ladder. Gaining Access Over Obstacles Some boom lift models can move up and over obstacles, making them ideal for working over top of items safely and efficiently. Having the capacity to reach an object even when you are unable to maneuver the equipment directly underneath has a variety of applications including window cleaning, telephone pole and line installation and service, fixing overhead cables and numerous other industries. The articulated boom lift is an example that has numerous joints enabling it to bend over or under items. The articulated boom sections can move independently to grant operators access to many locations. Famous for their tight turning radius, articulated booms offer an ideal solution for narrow hallways and storage facilities. The dual-fuel boom lifts provide service in both exterior and interior locations. Diesel models are used outside while electric boom lifts are implemented in interior locations. Articulating Boom Lifts These boom lifts are popular for numerous construction and maintenance jobs. Articulated boom lifts are utilized commonly for working on overhead power lines and wires. Firefighters even rely on them and some models feature water cannons. Maximum reach can be attained with telescoping boom sections on certain models. Some articulating boom lift models have an extra jib to enable their platform to reach six feet further in any direction. Since these machines commonly work on steep ground and rough terrain, they resemble “spiders” with their long legs, and often go by that nickname on the job site. Smaller units called interior articulating boom lifts are capable of fitting through doorways, making them valuable in retail, warehousing and storage facilities. Electric boom lifts are common for interior jobs due to their quieter options and lack of unhealthy carbon monoxide exhaust. Telescopic Boom Lifts Telescopic boom lifts do not bend the way articulating boom lifts do. Instead, they extend outwards and upwards with hydraulics that retract and extend. The worker who is in the platform has the controls to extend the lift and is able to operate without a second worker. Certain larger and taller models feature a jib located close to the top similar to an articulating boom lift model. There are models on the market capable of reaching over 180 feet. In less than a minute, some models can reach their full extended height since these machines are so stable and reliable. There are diesel and dual-fuel options with adjustable speed and weight range options from five hundred to one thousand pounds. Boom lifts can fit through tiny spaces and there are 4WD options on the market. Telescopic booms are common in a variety of settings due to their ability to combine height and reach. Jib Boom lifts that have an extension between the platform and the end of the primary boom are called the jib. This enables extra reach and another articulation point or hinge for the platform to move side-to-side or up-and-down. Jibs are available on telescoping boom lifts and articulating boom lifts. There is an articulation point available on certain models situated halfway between the platform and the wheels to allow the machine to reach over an obstacle and be lowered again if needed. Genie Articulating Boom Lifts A popular type of articulating boom lift manufactured on the market is the Genie Z-boom Model. This unit offers exceptional versatility for accessing difficult to reach locations with the capacity to lift up, over and out with precision. In 1985, the first Genie Z-30/20 articulating Z-boom was introduced; their up-and-over capacity make them instantly popular and this design continues today. Proper Safety Measures When operating any type of industrial equipment, safety is first and foremost. Safety hazards must be advertised to everyone who is working in the area for best practices. Safely operating the equipment is a top priority for the operator and everyone in the working environment. Before operating the machine, effective communication and essential safety gear need to be in place. Prior to operating, ensure there are no open flames, combustible or flammable items, lit cigarettes, battery gases or engine fuels present. For the ultimate safety, it is important to have a visible, safely mounted and accessible fire extinguisher within the operators reach. It is important to maintain a clean work space around charging stations and work surfaces since clutter or tools could puncture tires or damage the machine or its components. Daily Maintenance Daily maintenance includes a visual inspection and consulting the maintenance manual to ensure the machine is up to date and will operate safely. These industrial machines rely on lifting and supportive mechanisms to stabilize the weight. Fasteners, straps and chains must be regularly checked to make sure they are safe working order. Single use components and fasteners cannot be reused due to their risk of failure. Discarded solvents and oils must be disposed of safely and in an approved container to prevent environmental contamination. Adequate ventilation and lighting are essential in garages, workshops and along workbenches. Typically the wide umbrella of maintenance is distinguished by subsections such as Commissioning and Programmed Maintenance Intervals, Annual Maintenance, and Quarterly Maintenance. Maintenance Inspection Report The boom lift components are divided and categorized to streamline the process of inspection. Common maintenance categories include Control and Function, Turntable, Booms, Platform, Drive Chassis and Engine. Improperly conducting maintenance can lead to unsafe working conditions, damaged components, reduced performance and ultimately downtime. The maintenance inspection report is an essential component to keeping the machine operable and the staff safe while extending the service life and overall performance of the machine. Commissioning refers to a list of one-time maintenance procedures to be complete at 50 hours and at 150 hour intervals. Annual and Quarterly maintenance procedures need to be performed once or multiple times a year. Programmed maintenance procedures are completed based on machine operating hours or during “pre-delivery” preparation. Prior to operating your equipment, check your maintenance manual to make sure all of the fluid levels, oil changes, battery life and maintenance are up to date. Boomlift / Manlift PDF
